Police in Greater Manchester recovered a large amount of prescription and controlled drugs at the weekend which had been left on a street in the area.

A picture posted by GMP North on Facebook revealed some of the medicines seized included pregabalin, flucloxacillin, nitrazepam and zopiclone after they were discovered on Harris Street in Strangeways, an area of north Manchester.

The force is appealing for the owner of the drugs to come forward and no arrests are believed to have been made.

“Whilst engaged on pro-active patrols this weekend, a large amount of controlled drugs were found on Harris Street in the Strangeways area of Manchester,” GMP North said on Facebook.

“Officers from the local neighbourhood team regularly conduct patrols as part of Operation Cranium - a dedicated investigation in to the illicit supply of prescription-only medications in areas in North Manchester.”

According to the Manchester Evening News prescription drugs, especially pregabalin which is indicated for the treatment of anxiety as well as epilepsy, have been sold on streets across the city and may have been used by the homeless and drug addicts.
